How Our Company Started
Joseph Fossett
Joseph Fossett is a member of the oldest circus family in the United Kingdom. Joseph has been training animals for over 35 years including lions, tigers, elephants, bears, horses and of course camels.
He is a registered farrier and professional wild animal trainer. He is one of the best camel trainers in the Europe. Joseph is a source of knowledge and expertise for many camel owners, including UK zoos.
His first television appearance aged five was with an elephant. He is your “man on the ground” at the shows, keeping everything under control.
Rebecca Fossett
Rebecca spent her childhood on the back of a pony. She was a four in hand carriage driving groom and navigator doing driving trials at international level.
She has worked with driving horses in France, Hungary, Spain, America and the UK.
Rebecca holds a degree in French and History from Manchester University. As well as being the commentator for your camel and pig races, she will be the friendly voice on the phone.
Daisy Fossett
Daisy is the daughter of Joseph and Rebecca. She has grown up around all sorts of animals, as well as camels. One of her first word was ‘Beegar’ which sounded like the name of a camel called Biggles.
She has worked alongside her parents for since she was seven years old, doing her first camel racing commentary and television appearance on the BBCs ‘Animals at Work’ aged 12 years old.
Daisy has a degree in International Business and Agri-food from the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester. Since graduating from RAU she has been running Daisy’s Dromedairy Ltd as the creative director.
Leo Fossett
Leo Fossett is the son of Joseph and Rebecca, and Daisy’s younger brother. He too grew up with all sorts of animals, including lots of camels. Leo’s first appearance in the main ring camel racing was when he was four years old and peed in front of the crowd – talk about a spectacle!
Leo has worked alongside his parents since the age of five helping with the camels. His camel racing experience has helped him win many races; and his pig wrangling is hogtastic!
Leo is at the Kings College in London studying chemistry. He is also a director of Daisy’s Dromedairy and does relief milking at the weekends.
Ryan McGinley
Ryan is head lad and assistant trainer at Josephs Amazing Camels. He is also chief milker at Daisy’s Dromedairy. Ryan started working for the company in 2012 helping out at events, he eventually started working full time with the camels helping look after them and train them alongside Joseph. Joseph has known Ryan since he was 12 years old and used to she Ryan’s pony’s feet.
Joseph has known Ryan since he was 12 years old and used to shoe Ryan’s pony’s feet. Ryan has ridden horses his entire life and is a very good rider. He also has a degree in computer networking and hardware.
Ryan’s patience and kindness with the animals makes him ideal for training the animals. With Joseph’s guidance they make a great camel training team!
From Strength to Strength
Joseph and Rebecca started Josephs Amazing Camels in 2000 doing camel racing and camel hire across the UK. The company has grown from just camel racing to camel hire for all occasions including film and TV, Christmas events, promotions, PR events, parties… anything and everything camel!
The business has grown from two camels to eighteen, now the largest camel herd in the UK. In 2021 diversified from entertainment to farming by opening the UK’s first Camel Dairy.
Camels, Part of the Family:
They truly are part of our family. Each with their own personality and quirks, they are amazing animals. Though a bad reputation for kicking, biting and spitting is simply not true for our camels. When treated with love and respect, they respond in kind. They are sensitive and very intelligent animals, much revered in the Middle east and loved by many people around the world. We are first for camels and our camels come first.
